Three Songs on a Tuesday

I was driving in the car listening to Taylor Swift’s Our Song (yes, I love her – she’s too sweet and adorable!) and it got me to thinking about my own “songs” with Dave. We have plenty. Or at least I do. I’m kind of wondering if asked what he would say is “our song”. I’ll interrogate him when he gets home and update you all, lol.
***EDITED***
Dave’s home. He thinks it’s Somewhere Beyond The Sea. Because it was once in a movie we both liked, I guess. His second guess? A song from a movie with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. LOL. He had no idea and finally gave up.

Anyway, our first song was back when we were first dating. This song was always playing, wherever we went. So to me, it will always be our number one song. Every single time I hear it I am transported back to being 21, dancing and drinking cheap beer at The Warehouse.

The next song was our first dance. It’s EVERYONE’s first dance, lol. But that’s because it is an amazing, beautiful, romantic and timeless song.

The last song just makes me smile. It’s the song that played after we said our vows, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.
(But what the heck is with Davy Jones’ dancing?)

What songs do you have with your loved ones? I want to hear! Comment below and I’ll do a random draw for a $20 iTunes gift card!

  • Ashley Motes - My hubbie has always been a Van Halen fanatic. I mean loves! For our first Valentine’s Day together I made him a cd with the song, “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.” He is a very talented guitar player & 2 years later at our wedding he surprised me by playing his guitar for me, & you guessed it, the song “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.” It will always be our song.

  • Mike - “At Last” was our first dance as well.

Our other songs: When I Grow Too Old to Dream by Nat King Cole, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by the Platters, and Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler (!)

  • Annette W - My husband and I had the song “feels like home” by a great canadian artist Chantal Kreviazuk, for our first dance and every time I hear it I know he is my home and my safety. Another song that I always remember as our first song is Dire Straits, Romeo and Juliet. My husband plays guitar and is a great Mark Knophler fan and when we were first dating, he played it incessantly when we would hang out! 🙂

  • Addie - My husband and I’s song is Could Not Ask For More by Edwin McCain…. Closer by Betther than Ezra is what I always associate with my son, and the Dixie Chicks’ How Long Do You Want to be Loved is what I always sing to my daughter when she has a hard time falling asleep, and then Rob Thomas’ Little Wonders always takes me back to the adoption of our second son… but there are a million other songs that have so many memories attached to them… good stuff

  • Jeremi Broadhurst - Brandy those are great songs! I’m not sure what “our song” is either. I guess I should ask hubby what he thinks.

I do remember dancing to The Police “Every breath you take” with hubby and feeling totally smitten. It’s funny how that lovefool song was always playing when you were dating. I have songs that seemed to always be playing when we were dating too and it always makes me thing of him. Like Dave Matthews “Crash into me”.

Anyway fun post! Thanks for sharing!
