Royal Oak School

As many of you know, I live in the community of Royal Oak in NW Calgary. We moved here almost 8 years ago, before kids and not really understanding how the school system worked. We naively thought that the “future school site” sign in the field a block away from our house would mean that we would be super close to a school when we had kids. The field now has a community garden and there’s absolutely no school in sight.

We did though, get a new school in Royal Oak this year, and the residents here are so thankful! I am doubly thankful because while it’s not at the end of my street, it’s only a few blocks away and definitely within walking distance. No more buses for us, which is wonderful because it’s always a little scary to have your child in someone else’s hands on the icy roads of Calgary.

The school is doing a cheque fundraiser and I am happy to support them get the funds to purchase technology tools, literary resources and even to procure fine arts performances!

So for EVERY session in the community of ROYAL OAK purchased in the next 10 days, I will donate 100% of the session fee to the Royal Oak School. (prints are not included and start at $75) It’s a win/win. You get a session with Fresh Sugar and you know that you are supporting your community school. Sessions will take place in 2011 (as I’m booked until then) and must take place in Royal Oak. If you are a resident of Royal Oak or know someone who is, make sure you let them know about this promotion. It means a lot to me to be able to help support not only my community but education as well.

Contact me at info@freshsugar.ca to book your session now – this promotion ends on December 10th, 2010.
