We headed down to the Calgary Zoo yesterday to try out the Safari Brunch. The brunch runs on Sundays from 9:30am to 2:00pm. We hit the brunch around 11:30am, which was a great time – it wasn’t too busy and the food was restocked and fresh.
It’s a casual experience, it’s set right in the middle of the zoo so you can walk around and see the animals afterwards (or before if you want to work up an appetite!). The buffet has a few different stations – personally I loved the waffles and blueberry crepes. Josh had a made-to-order omelette that he thought was really good, and the girls adored the banana bread, chocolate fountain, cookies, tarts and the crispy bacon! The food was your normal breakfast fare with a larger than average salad section. My only two non-faves were the risotto and the scrambled eggs.
All in all, we had a great time, enjoyed our meals and didn’t feel rushed. It was great for kids, and afterwards we were able to walk off some of those calories by visiting the new Komodo Dragons and rhino!
The prices aren’t outrageous, and are even better if you are a zoo member and don’t have to pay for admission!
