Last year I was proud to donate my time to photograph some amazing kids for a poster for the Epilepsy Association of Calgary. These kids were from a local school and they raised money by shaving their heads in support of a classmate that has epilepsy. I was honored to be able to help with the project as my own daughter Emma suffers from seizures. March 26th is Purple Day, so wear something purple to show your support and raise awareness for epilepsy.
Epilepsy – is going PURPLE and it’s going global – thanks to the vision of an amazing nine year old Nova Scotia girl, Cassidy, who lives with epilepsy. She dreamed up Purple Day in 2008 after finding the courage to tell her classmates about her epilepsy. According to Cassidy, “I wanted to tell everyone about epilepsy…I also wanted kids with epilepsy to know that they are not alone”.
Cassidy convinced many people to wear purple in 2008 including her school, a number of politicians, and notably, Paul Shaffer from the Letterman show. In 2009 Purple Day is taking the world by storm! The scope of this effort is unprecedented!
