Advent Calendars
‘Tis the season for advent calendars – and there are SO many cool ones out right now! I’ve seen toys, colouring, homemade, presents, candy, the works! We each have our own advent calendars here (actually, I just realized everyone has TWO except me, hmmmmm) and we love love love
Andrea – Calgary Beauty Photography
I am making a lot of headway into the beauty portraits that I shot wayyyyyy too long ago. It’s been really fun and inspiring to edit these images of these beautiful women – I absolutely cannot wait to photograph more women in a relaxed and easy environment!
The Rosie Effect
I mentioned the other day about being a completist – what I’m currently in a panic to complete is my Goodreads reading challenge. My friend Laurel suggested it near the beginning of summer and I thought 25 books in more than half a year was very attainable. Sitting at 16/25 books with
Elf on the Shelf
Tomorrow marks when our Elf on the Shelf makes his reappearance! Elvin always graces us with his presence on December 1st, and usually is quite clever with his hiding places and scenarios for the first week or so. Then he kind of runs out of steam and it looks like he has a hard time finding some
Shopaholic to the Stars
I’ve finally finished Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella so I can review it. It took me a lot longer than these types normally take, I think it just didn’t have the same fun and interesting storyline that her earlier books did. In this go-round, Becky seems less quirky and
Claire – Calgary Beauty Photography
Another one of the gorgeous ladies who helped me out with modelling for the beauty sessions! I’m just so excited to have a studio next year to do these kinds of portraits all the time!
Taking Stock 01
My friend Katie at Freckled Latte posted this great questionnaire so I had to steal it! Making : Christmas Crack Cooking : Soup, soup and more soup! This dill pickle soup has been made twice this week! (by Josh, lol) Drinking : Sparkling apple juice Reading: Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie
Charlotte is a Flip Girl! – Triple Flip
Back in September, I randomly entered both girls to be “Flip Girls” for Triple Flip. The winners would get to model outfits at Market Mall and have a photo shoot, and the images get used for display in the store and/or website/marketing materials. They don’t ask for photos
Nancy – Calgary Beauty Photography
This is Nancy. She is insanely gorgeous. She was one of the kind and lovely ladies that helped me out by modelling for my new beauty venture. Thanks so much Nancy, I adore these images and you!
Mockingjay Part One
With Charlotte at a sleepover last night, we decided to take Emma on a date – just the three of us. Of course with Mockingjay Part One just opening, it HAD to be that. We were really scared about how busy it would be, but thankfully Landmark Cinemas had a ton of screenings. We only got there
Storybook Theatre
The girls have fully immersed themselves in the world of theatre this year! They take classes at Storybook Theatre in the NW. Emma started this summer at Shakespeare camp where she landed the title role in Macbeth. She loved it so much that she enrolled in the next session of camp which was Seuss
The Girl Stays in the Picture
A couple of years ago I was golfing with my friend Chelsea and she made a joke about knowing which kid was my favourite. I tend to take more photos of Charlotte because she is with me more often – Emma is a little more private and solitary. Emma also puts up a big fuss about getting her
Lena – Calgary Women’s Photography
Two years ago, I put out a call to clients for models for a project I was thinking about undertaking. I wanted to start doing more women’s portraiture – not boudoir which I had done in the past but not quite glamour photography either. Just beautiful portraits of women. Now, when I am
Home Building
With our new addition arriving in January (or December, ack!) we needed to find a bigger home. Currently, our 1600sq ft 3 bedroom works perfectly for our family. The basement is developed for a tv room and my office, and we feel like we have plenty of space for the 4 of us. But 5? That’s a
Ruby and her family – Alberta Children’s Hospital Photographs
Another amazing ACH family – aren’t they just the BEST looking? I love Ruby’s name – it was definitely in the running for baby names for us!
Lexxie – Alberta Children’s Hospital Photographs
Now that I’ve made the pledge to blog every day this month, I have the ability to catch up on some of the Alberta Children’s Hospital images that I shot in the summer. I photograph for the Foundation every year and it is 100 percent the highlight of my job. I love these strong,
Oscar (and Reese and Ryan)
These guys are my BFFs! I met Reese way back in college when we took Cinema, Television, Stage and Radio at SAIT. We were both writer/director majors and while it took us awhile to warm up to each other (a bit of an understatement, haha) we’ve been thick as thieves ever since. Oscar is the
10 on 10 – November
It’s our monthly 10 on 10, and mine was done in exactly 3 minutes. Charlotte was wearing her Elsa dress (although the Frozen madness is finally dying down around here – a year later), so she ran outside, I took 10 photos and we ran inside! It’s cold in Calgary right now! Be sure
Blake! – Calgary Child Photography
Year after year I talk about just how cute Blake is. I love her photo sessions because she is so full of fun and energy. Watching her grow up has been a high point in my work, I really look forward to this family’s session every fall. This year we made the trek out to the Calgary Corn Maze
These Kids – Calgary Children’s Photography
I have known these little ones since before they were even born, I was fortunate enough to meet Warren and Carla for their maternity session for the twins. Since then I feel so very lucky to be able to visit with their family year after year, from home to home. Carla was even so sweet as to give me
Mother – Daughter Book Club
I had stumbled upon this list a few months ago and thought it would be a pretty brilliant way for 11 year old Emma and I to have something in common. These days it seems there is a lot more fighting than bonding, and I was excited about the idea of being able to talk about something neutral that
Disney\’s Yacht Club Review
We recently returned from a trip to Walt Disney World where we stayed at the Yacht Club Resort. Josh had stayed there before but the girls and I hadn’t. We’ve stayed at the All Stars/Pop Century and the Animal Kingdom Lodge previously. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. It
Tara’s Family
Oh how I love this family! It’s so amazing to see how little tiny newborns turn into active kids, running and laughing and being SO MUCH FUN! Thanks so much for coming to see me again you guys, it means the world to me!
Brother and Sister
I just love photographing these two year after year! Not only are they absolutely adorable but they are just amazing kids. So sweet and smart and full of love!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!
Today was Josh’s 35th birthday (LUCKY) and when asked what he wanted for his birthday dinner, he had ONE answer – MEATLOAF. His mom always makes him meatloaf on his birthday, and it was kind of a daunting task to take on. Inspiration struck though, when I was looking at meatloaf recipes
Photogenic!
I adore these little boys! I’ve taken photos of them since they were both newborns, and I am always excited about their sessions because I know I get to take pictures of some good looking kids! Mom and Dad are always super stylish too so they all make a photographer’s dream! Follow my
Zoo Brunch Review
We headed down to the Calgary Zoo yesterday to try out the Safari Brunch. The brunch runs on Sundays from 9:30am to 2:00pm. We hit the brunch around 11:30am, which was a great time – it wasn’t too busy and the food was restocked and fresh. It’s a casual experience, it’s set
And Most Energetic Goes To . . .
This wonderful family! They are the fittest and most active of my clients – and they keep going and going and going! I’ve been photographing these awesome people for years now, and I hope for many more! It’s so much fun getting to catch up at the sessions, and to see how grown up
The Colliers
It’s the first day of November! (Or Snowvember as I’ve been calling it today, amiright Calgary????) Which means that I’m now committed to a blog post a day for the next 30 days! First up is a session share of our really great friends. We are all so lucky to live right around the
NaBloPoMo
For the past few years, I have been trying to be a better blogger – and failing miserably. I actually love blogging, but I never make it a priority or really commit to it. That is changing for the month of November, as it is National Blog Posting Month or NaBloPoMo. It’s a spin-off
Coming Soon!
So this post is REALLY late in coming, but after seeing so many surprised faces at the mini sessions, I realized that not everyone knows the BIG news! We surprised the girls with these SO AMAZING AND DELICIOUS cakes from Sugar Shack Cakes & Pastries. I’ve mentioned them before but please
Family With A Downtown View – Calgary Photography
This session was SO much fun! We had such a beautiful location for their family photographs, I’m so envious that they get to see this amazing view every day! Kate is such a little cutie, great style and so much energy!

10 on 10 – Sprinkler Fun in Calgary
I’ve had to skip a couple of the 10 on 10 blog circles this year because of a super busy summer. I’m back at it now, with a few fun images I took in August – remember before Calgary was blanketed in snow? With the warmer temperatures this week, I’m hoping this wasn’t
The Amazing and Incredible Ryan and his Family
Oh, where do I start with this special family? I met them years ago and I’ve been taking photos of their little unit of three happily every year. Now they have a beautiful family of four, but with no shortage of ups and downs. This little man made a very unexpected early debut on Halloween at
Mini Sessions in the Park are Back! – Calgary Family Photography
Oh, Calgary. Embracing the snow today? Don’t worry – it won’t last too long, and we will still be enjoying lovely fall weather! Mini sessions in Baker Park are back by popular demand! It’s been a couple of years and I know that many of you are excited about that leafy
