After having to reschedule this newborn session because I was sick (I don’t like risking those germs with brand new babies) I finally got to meet this GORGEOUS little man. You might remember this fun family from their finger painting maternity session.
I love summer babies because when the weather is so hot, they just snooze and snooze and snooze and we can get the most adorable images. It doesn’t hurt when the whole family is so good-looking either, lol!

I adore this family. I love that as soon as I walked in, Kim and I were talking shoes – even trying them on because we are the same size, lol!
I love that they named their baby Atticus because I think that’s pretty much the coolest name around.
I even love that Atticus didn’t want to sleep, lie down or basically do anything that wasn’t cuddling Mom and Dad. I love it because I got some really neat and different images from this session.
It made me stop resting on my laurels, which, let’s face it, is a pretty weird place to rest.

These images are a little different than my standard newborn photography, but I really, really love them.

You may have noticed that there are a lot of repeat faces on this blog. I absolutely love that – it means so much to me when clients have a great experience and come back again and again. I love seeing how families grow together and I’m completely honored to be invited to share in that.

I loved how this newborn session featured lots of smiles from not only mom, dad and big brother but the new baby too!

It’s this gorgeous mom’s birthday today so I wanted to get her sneak peek up as a little gift to her.

This family has twins and now a new baby boy to make their busy household much, much busier! This little man had a scary stay in the hospital after he was born, so we had to wait until he was 6 weeks old to meet. He was well worth the wait though, super sweet and absolutely gorgeous!

Basically, there’s not a client that I get that I don’t like. But I looooooove my repeat clients. Because they are always fun and wacky and goofy like me. Yup – I totally just called this family goofy. They are the best, so much fun, so creative and really sweet and positive people. Love them!

Favorite Families – Calgary Newborn Photography

I know I talk a lot about my favorite families. I know I have a lot of them. (and I know that I spell favorite the American way and I just can’t help that so please bear with me).
The reason why I have so many favorite families is because I see so many of my families again and again and again. I get to spend time with them during pregnancy, right after labor when they are sleep-deprived and giddy, and when they have happy milestones like birthdays.
I know so many people say that they are lucky with what they do, and I don’t want to be overly sappy and say it too – but it’s so true. I just love my Fresh Sugar families. They make work nothing at all like work and more like spending time with wonderful friends.

This family is certainly no exception. We’ve had lots of sessions together and every time I see them we all laugh more and more and the sessions get longer and longer just because we end up hanging out and talking so much. Lauretta was even the inspiration for me to get bangs!
I love them, pure and simple. It doesn’t hurt that I always have a soft spot for redheads and people with a super sense of humor. LOL

Finally – a GIRL!

There’s been something funky in the water in Calgary these days (and it’s not the fluoride, lol). Every single newborn session I’ve had since October has been newborn baby BOYS! And of course, it was after I got some sweet little girly things to use in photo shoots. I was so excited when this couple let me know that they had in fact, given birth to the elusive Calgarian Baby Girl.

She was a complete sweetheart, absolutely adorable and so tiny and perfect. I also kept telling Mom that it’s not fair – how can someone look soooooo good after just giving birth?

A Baby is a Gift

I met this family through a unique sort of way. I know their good friend Natalie, who used to be Fairy Natalie that owned Enchanted Events – where my daughters had birthday parties and went to fairy camp.
Natalie is also a friend of some other friends, and we happened to be at the same Halloween party this year. Natalie mentioned that she had a friend who just adopted a little baby, and I told her about my work with Celebrating Adoption.
Fates aligned and I was able to go and do a session for this wonderful couple, who opened their hearts to this little baby.

This new family is tired and happy and so in love, it was an honor to be able to photograph them.
