This year for the fall mini-sessions, I only met two new clients. Every single other session was previous clients. It makes me feel so happy to see all these families again, year after year.
(And meet the new ones too!)

Here’s another cutie from our Baker Park sessions, I feel so privileged to watch him grow up.

This is a family that I’ve had the immense pleasure of watching grow over the years. I can’t even call them clients anymore, because they honestly are more like friends.
I love having sessions with them, full of laughing and joking and spontaneity. We went to Fish Creek park here in Calgary this fall for some fun portraits.

A Little Different – Calgary Newborn Photography

I adore this family. I love that as soon as I walked in, Kim and I were talking shoes – even trying them on because we are the same size, lol!
I love that they named their baby Atticus because I think that’s pretty much the coolest name around.
I even love that Atticus didn’t want to sleep, lie down or basically do anything that wasn’t cuddling Mom and Dad. I love it because I got some really neat and different images from this session.
It made me stop resting on my laurels, which, let’s face it, is a pretty weird place to rest.

These images are a little different than my standard newborn photography, but I really, really love them.

Favorite Families – Calgary Newborn Photography

I know I talk a lot about my favorite families. I know I have a lot of them. (and I know that I spell favorite the American way and I just can’t help that so please bear with me).
The reason why I have so many favorite families is because I see so many of my families again and again and again. I get to spend time with them during pregnancy, right after labor when they are sleep-deprived and giddy, and when they have happy milestones like birthdays.
I know so many people say that they are lucky with what they do, and I don’t want to be overly sappy and say it too – but it’s so true. I just love my Fresh Sugar families. They make work nothing at all like work and more like spending time with wonderful friends.

This family is certainly no exception. We’ve had lots of sessions together and every time I see them we all laugh more and more and the sessions get longer and longer just because we end up hanging out and talking so much. Lauretta was even the inspiration for me to get bangs!
I love them, pure and simple. It doesn’t hurt that I always have a soft spot for redheads and people with a super sense of humor. LOL

Three Songs on a Tuesday

I was driving in the car listening to Taylor Swift’s Our Song (yes, I love her – she’s too sweet and adorable!) and it got me to thinking about my own “songs” with Dave. We have plenty. Or at least I do. I’m kind of wondering if asked what he would say is “our song”. I’ll interrogate him when he gets home and update you all, lol.

Dave’s home. He thinks it’s Somewhere Beyond The Sea. Because it was once in a movie we both liked, I guess. His second guess? A song from a movie with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. LOL. He had no idea and finally gave up.

Anyway, our first song was back when we were first dating. This song was always playing, wherever we went. So to me, it will always be our number one song. Every single time I hear it I am transported back to being 21, dancing and drinking cheap beer at The Warehouse.

The next song was our first dance. It’s EVERYONE’s first dance, lol. But that’s because it is an amazing, beautiful, romantic and timeless song.

The last song just makes me smile. It’s the song that played after we said our vows, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.
(But what the heck is with Davy Jones’ dancing?)

Intimate

Intimate. Isn’t that a word that just invokes so many feelings.
You can be intimate with someone, you can have an intimate wedding, a concert can be in an intimate setting.

This was the word that kept popping in my head when I was editing this maternity session.
The gorgeous mom-and-dad-to-be had so many creative ideas and were up for anything.
But more than that, there was a closeness, a happiness between these two that was very easy to see.
They were in an intimate world, just the two of them, and I was lucky enough to be there to capture it.

Soon their family will double (yes, there are twins in that tiny little belly) and while their world may not be as small, I
am absolutely positive that they have more than enough love to make their household seem cozy and secure and . . .

intimate.

It’s Movember

This was the perfect blog post to do a little shout-out about Movember. It’s all about moustaches this month, baby! It’s a great cause and such a unique campaign.

I don’t even know how to write about this session. I love this family like we have been friends forever. They are just cool, and funny, and gorgeous. (My office manager Tara was at this session and has a little crush on Dad. Shhh!)

Their daughter was born incredibly premature and beat so many odds. She is such a wonderful little girl, bright and funny and loving. She ran up and took my hand right away, even though I haven’t seen her for a couple of years.
And the little guy? Um hello, best expressions ever! Happy and ohmygoodness that HAIR! I could gush on and on and on about these guys, but I will let the images do the talking now.

I don't know if it's been the long hours I've been working or just how sweet this family is, but I totally teared up when I saw this image. It's one of my favorite family photos EVER.

I love it. Like a little vampire ringmaster.

Marcy

Ok, this is how behind I am on blogging. This session was from when the grass was green and not white and brown. Marcy has had her baby already. I’ve done the newborn session.
I’m beeeeeehind. Which makes me a bit of a behind myself. Ba dum dum!

So this is Marcy. You’ve seen her TONS on the blog. I think this was her 5th session in 2 years. I love her. She bought me cupcakes once. And she keeps making gorgeous babies.
LOVE HER.
Jay and Izzy are pretty awesome too. In fact, the three of them make the best photos. Now that there’s four of them, it’s only going to get better. I’m so excited that this wonderful family keeps bringing me back, because I LOVE THEM!

Haha, sorry for the cryptic title for this post, but it was a phrase from this newborn session that STILL cracks me up.
Considering that I often shoot little nakey newborn babies, you can probably figure it out. And no, I can’t show the image that inspired the wisecrack. LOL

This is the wonderful, happy, gorgeous, loveable family from this maternity post. I was so excited to see them again and meet their new little cutie.
I was definitely not disappointed, they were so fun and incredibly gracious – letting me destroy their kitchen with some moss that I bought in BC. Yes, I’m a sucker that BUYS moss.

I have a ton of images for their gallery, and don’t want to spoil the surprise too much, so I am sharing just a few here, and one that makes me giggle so hard. Big brother reallllllllly loves the new baby!
