This year for the fall mini-sessions, I only met two new clients. Every single other session was previous clients. It makes me feel so happy to see all these families again, year after year.
(And meet the new ones too!)

Here’s another cutie from our Baker Park sessions, I feel so privileged to watch him grow up.

Blake aka ‘the baby I want for my own’

I’ve known Blake since she was born and she’s been my little guinea pig ever since.
I love her so much that I seriously consider offering to babysit her, which frankly I don’t ever offer to anyone.
Even my KIDS love this kid, Blake’s mom came over for a party and my girls played with her for 2 hours straight.
She’s just that cute.

This is a family that I’ve had the immense pleasure of watching grow over the years. I can’t even call them clients anymore, because they honestly are more like friends.
I love having sessions with them, full of laughing and joking and spontaneity. We went to Fish Creek park here in Calgary this fall for some fun portraits.

Mini Sessions Are Back!

It’s that time of year!

This year I’m doing something a little different. As some of you know, one of my very dear friends was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just under two weeks ago. I took a trip to Portland this past week to be with her during surgery and I plan to go back several times to help her through chemo.
Jen is a fellow photographer, and as you can imagine, this will put her out of work for several months. I would like to donate the session fees from both days of mini sessions to her and her two boys to help ease the financial burden just a bit.

If you are interested in booking a mini session, please just email me at info@freshsugar.ca and let me know your preferred date and time and we’ll set you up. Because newsletter subscribers and previous clients get first crack at things like this, I’m very pleased to say that we only have 2 spots left this Saturday and 5 left in October, so please email me right away if you’d like a session!

Mini sessions are $250 and include a 20 minute session and 10-15 images in your gallery. You will also receive one digital image to use as you choose! The sessions are on Saturday, September 17th and October 1st. 10am-4pm.

End of Summer Party

Anyone who knows me at all, knows that I don’t really cook. However, I absolutely love to entertain. I love having people over, playing games, drinking wine. It’s just the food at these affairs usually consists of pizza and a bowl of chips.
What can I say? I’d rather be having fun with my friends than preparing food.

Pinterest though, has created a monster. I’m constantly pinning food, just to look at it. So when we decided to have an end of summer party – I decided to give some of my favorite pins a whirl.

The most involved recipe was Fancy Pink Lemonade Jello Shots. Mine turned out a tad messy, but they were still super fun and my friends were suitably impressed.

Another big hit was watermelon cubes with a balsamic reduction. See how fancy I am? This one was really, really yummy. The balsamic really adds something awesome to the watermelon.

I also made personal 5 layer dip cups, personal veggie dips, salsa cream cheese wraps and lemon pudding for dessert. There was some BBQ’ed meat and other things that the men did too. But it wasn’t as cute as my stuff so I didn’t take photos.

The kids played a bunch of games; sponge water fight, water balloon toss, egg races, trampolining, etc.
Even the grown ups got involved. Hee.

At the end of the night, the kids watched a movie in the playroom and the grown ups had some great conversations using Table Topics, which features some really cool conversation starters.

I know there are a probably a lot of you out there having your own End of Summer parties this coming long weekend, maybe some of these ideas will help!

Summer Baby – Calgary Newborn Photography

After having to reschedule this newborn session because I was sick (I don’t like risking those germs with brand new babies) I finally got to meet this GORGEOUS little man. You might remember this fun family from their finger painting maternity session.
I love summer babies because when the weather is so hot, they just snooze and snooze and snooze and we can get the most adorable images. It doesn’t hurt when the whole family is so good-looking either, lol!

A Little Different – Calgary Newborn Photography

I adore this family. I love that as soon as I walked in, Kim and I were talking shoes – even trying them on because we are the same size, lol!
I love that they named their baby Atticus because I think that’s pretty much the coolest name around.
I even love that Atticus didn’t want to sleep, lie down or basically do anything that wasn’t cuddling Mom and Dad. I love it because I got some really neat and different images from this session.
It made me stop resting on my laurels, which, let’s face it, is a pretty weird place to rest.

These images are a little different than my standard newborn photography, but I really, really love them.

It’s always fun to see this happy family, and I was excited when they wanted to do a before and after shot with pregnancy and their brand new baby!
I loved how this newborn session featured lots of smiles from not only mom, dad and big brother but the new baby too!
