Back from Paradise

Ahhhhh! I’m finally home from my whirlwind 2 weeks away, and ready to spill all about my trip to the Bahamas. We traveled on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas to Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West, FL.
The boat was amazing, I have never been on a cruise before, and I absolutely loved it. Our room was “cozy”, but since we were really only there to sleep, it was no problem.

When we arrived in Nassau, we took a water taxi to Paradise Island, where the name tells it all. We met up with our honeymooning friends (yes, we’re classy and unobtrusive like that) who were staying at the amazing Atlantis resort. I’ve always wanted to do a dolphin swim, so along with Emma and Reese and Ryan, I donned the very stylish Dolphin Cay wetsuit and got up close and personal with a real live dolphin for 30 minutes.
We did the shallow water experience because Emma and I are the only ones that can swim (hahaha, just kidding. sort of) but next time I’ll have to try out the deep water swim. They give you these cool jet doo-hickeys and it looks like you go really fast. Cool.

After the swim, we went to hang out on the Atlantis beach, where a very large and unexpected wave almost swept Emma away and killed my iPhone. The beach was beautiful, although the water was pretty crazy.

Charlotte was the smart one, and actually afraid of the beach and was perfectly happy to stay on the beach chair.

Next day was Royal Caribbean’s private island of Coco Cay, which I have no photos of because I trusted in a waterproof disposable camera – and NONE of my photos turned out. Wah. But you’ll have to trust me, they were MAGNIFICENT! lol I got to read an entire book (Sophie Kinsella’s Remember Me – the most perfect beach read ever) and the girls played in the white sand and actually saw real stingrays! (which made me even sadder to hear about the Calgary Zoo’s stingrays.)

Our last cruise day was at Key West, where yes indeedy, they make the best Key Lime pie in the world! We had the fabulous opportunity to have our family photos taken by Jenny Pearson and it was such a blast. She’s shown me a couple of previews, and I can’t wait to see more!
The girls loved Jenny, and Emma did me proud – since these are the kinds of looks I usually get from her:

Charlotte was her usual energetic self, but Jenny had some great ideas to keep her engaged, and Char was a happy camper:

Of course, in typical husband fashion (and I know you ladies out there are picking up what I’m putting down), Dave went and got himself a wicked cool sunburn the day before on the beach, thereby making a beautiful assortment of reds and purples for our family photos. Awww, I say it with love. I love lobster!

Sadly, our cruise was over. We hopped off in Miami, and traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to have one last relaxing day by the pool. Except the pool at the Hilton was being drained. So we loaded up in a hotel shuttle and went to the beach. Lemons to lemonade for sure, because the beach was gorgeous, quiet, and FUN! We had a great time swimming, building sand castles, and just enjoying being together someplace warm.
