Award Winning – calgary children’s photography

If you are a regular blog follower, you will know that every year I travel to Las Vegas to attend the annual Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention. When I was there last year, I entered prints in their 16X20 competition for the first time, and was so excited to learn that I had been awarded 3 Accolades of Excellence and my images were hung at the convention for everyone to see.
WPPI also has another competition every year, the 8X10 comp which is split into two halves – first and second. I didn’t have time to enter the first half, but decided to send in some images for the second half.

I was absolutely grinning from ear to ear when I got the letter that I had won FIRST place in the children’s portrait category. It still brings a goofy smile to my face when I think about it, so I don’t talk about it all that much, haha. Two other images also won Accolades of Excellence as well. I have to say that this is one of the greatest feelings of achievement for me personally, because I am self-taught and as artists often are, very hard on myself regarding my work. To be recognized like this in a group of talented international photographers means more to me than I will ever be able to explain.
